Jr.'s Biggest Fish to Date!

Rigolets Report and HUGE Drum!!!
Fished Friday morning out of rigolets marina. Hit a couple of cuts on the way to the train bridge, found one trout and a lot of dirty water after the heavy rains the day before. Decided to head to the first rig in lake borgne while the wind was right. Couple boats out there, but again water was pretty dirty. Picked up some small croaker and hardheads on live shrimp. Other boat was actually catching small mangroves and i saw at least one spanish mackeral boated. Didn't spend too much time there since we wanted to not waste the early morning without trying to find some trout. Fished the small wellhead on the way back to L&N with live shrimp for a little while when my No. 1 fishing buddy, my son Micah Jr., when he hooked up on something that didn't seem to even notice the drag on his baitcaster with 30# Power Pro. Jack? Shark? Yellowfin' (Lol). After a long fight and tired arms, Micah Jr. and I finally got a glimpse. It was the biggest drum we both have ever seen in person! Took both of us to lift her in the boat. I have no idea how much it weighed, but keep in mind in the picture Jr. is 6' 200lbs. That one fish made our whole trip! Revived the fish and released to fight another day, while Jr. massaged his forearms. Finished the day at the L&N before the rain moved in around 11:00. Nothing but small sheepshead, few more nice drum and more little croakers than we cared to catch. Hate catching those with a .35 cent shrimp!!! All in all great day on the water. Look for us out there in a 18' Sunbird bowrider and say Hi.

Be safe!

sweet catch
nice catch fellas.
just to give you a size guess, a week ago my buddy and i had a similar situation. HUGE drum at twin span. biggest we'd ever witnessed in person.
it was 40 inches and weighed in at 40 pounds.
we ran back to dockside to weigh it before we let him go.
man, what a blast

Huge Black Drum
Whoa!! That's a big one alright. I caught one like that in the industrial canal inside of Seabrook at Lake Pontchartrain a few years ago. Had to use my gaff and gently lip him into the boat. He would have torn up my net! I also released him. Felt good though, fighting him to the boat.
