Question for Letumgrow
Thinking about making a run to Lafitte tomorrow and was wondering how a NE wind at 12mph would effect the redfishing? I've never been and not sure of conditions. My son has a new kayak that he wants to use to get hooked up on a nice red. I'm thinking of fishing Bayou Dupont and maybe the canals on the northeast side of the Pen. You can email me if you'd like: crbhood@yahoo.com

THANKS!

Lafitte
Fisher_of_Men, Both CaptJS and Keakar's comments were right on the money. Sorry just responding but just seen this post. I fished with my Bride on Friday and we limited out on Reds. Saturday I fished with a friend and his son and we were limted out by 11:00am. Sunday made a short trip with my Bride and one of her friends and did real good. So even though we had strong east north east winds I found very good water and plenty of fish biting. Hope you did ok down there.
Regards

East wind is good for Lafitte
Your main problem with your boat is that you will have to cross the pen to the east side. Also a NE wind would blow right into dupont and making that turn should be rought with a good wind. Good news the water should be clean and full of fish.

redfish dont care
murky water doesnt bother reds much so if its murky stick to baits like spinners or rattletraps where they can key on sound and vibration or use market shrimp fishing on the bottom so they can key in on smell.

there are also endless areas to get behind cover and out of the wind so while you might not find clean water you shouldnt have trouble finding fishable waters with limited visability
