Redfish Bowfishing Tournament?
Are there any Redfish Bowfishing Tournaments anywhere?
I've searched the web and can't find anything. Why don't we have any bowfishing tournaments here in the south and why not reds? We need to get something started. I Don't have any idea on where to start, rules or how to judge a winner but we as sportsmen of south Louisiana need to make some thing happen. Please post comments on anything from interests and ways to pick winners, sponsors, etc.

Ragin Cajuns Battle on the Bayou.
This Saturday May 18, UL Fishing Team will be hosting the Battle on the Bayou Collegiate fishing tournament, but also there will be a High School and Open Division for all anglers. 40/boat for High School and College and 60/boat for Open. Teams or single anglers in Open welcome but 60/boat regardless. Come help support UL Lafayette Ragin Cajuns Bass team as we have two teams headed to the Boat US National Championship the following week. The Church in St. Amant is hosting its second tournament of the year at Bob's Bayou Black Marina in Gibson,La on May 18th, Start time is 6am till 1pm. Fee's are $25 a person with opt. $5 big bass. Catawba Catfish Club Lake Wylie 5/4-5/2013 Tournament Results
The Catawba Catfish Club had our 9th and Final Tournament of the 2012-2013 Season this weekend{May 4th and 5th} on Lake Wylie,NC/SC..This was a 2 day tournament which ran 8 hours each day.On day one we had 29 Paying Anglers{14 Boats} come out to fish the tournament,On day 2 we had 12 of the 14 boats come back to fish.All were competing for a Total Pot of $580,we had a Big Fish Pot each day with Day 1 paying $140 and Day 2 paying $120.
Weather was not good either day with High winds and the threat of rain all day long on Day 1,It was only worse when we came back for Day 2 with winds worse and rain just about all day long.
In the end the Team of Team Reelin the Blues capped off a great ..... Read More

Armed Forces Day Paddle Fishing Tournament - May 18, 2013
This Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, 2013, local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9960 will honor military personnel by hosting a public paddle fishing tournament on the White Oak River and Bogue Inlet waters. This tournament will feature individual cash prizes, as well as special recognition for teams from active/reserve military units and veteran service organizations.

This is the first year for this Armed Forces Day tournament, but organizers intend to hold it on an annual basis.

VFW Post 9960 will host the event and provide meals and facilities for all participants.

Henderson Bass-Sacalait-Bream tournament (for CASA) entire month of May
There is a big fish tournament (Bass, Sacalait, Bream) being put on as a fund raiser for CASA of SoLA. Biggest fish in each category wins $500. Kids division (under 15) will win a trophy for biggest fish in each category. The tournament will run the entire month of May. Entry is only $25 for adults and $5 for kids. Cypress Cove will weigh in the fish and keep track of the weights, the leaders in each division will be announced on Good Morning Acadiana by Jim Davidson every Friday morning.

ABA Couples on Lake Hartwell April 20
Ana Terry and Brad Rutherford won the American Bass Anglers South Carolina Couples Tournament on Lake Hartwell April 20.

Terry and Rutherford had 15.20 pounds, and they caught their fish on swimbaits and fish-head spins.

Terry and Rutherford have had a great season with a win on Lake Hartwell in March and a second place finish on Lake Russell. They are both college seniors and are set to graduate in May from the University of Georgia and Young Harris College, respectively.

Lesley and Randy Childers of Anderson were second with 14.10 pounds. Lesley was throwing a topwater bait and Randy was throwing a jig. Randy had the Men’s Big Bass with 4.5 pounds.

12th Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo
The Terrebonne Sportsman's League is hosting their 12th annual youth fishing rodeo on May 4th at the Pointe-Aux-Chene Marina in Pointe-Aux-Chene (south of Houma). This rodeo is open to all youths ages 4-15. It is FREE! All participants receive a T-shirt, hat and door prize. Must be present to win. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 participants in each category. Categories are: Redfish (under 27'), Drum (under 27'), catfish, sheepshead, crab (point to point), miscellaneous (everything else except redfish and drum over 27'), and best all around boy and girl. Help us hook kids on fishing and not on drugs!

CASA of SoLA is hosting 'Catch' for CASA Fishing Rodeo to benefit abused and neglected children in Acadiana. This fundraiser is a MONTH LONG fishing tournament on Henderson Lake beginning May 1st. Pay $25 per person by April 30th to fish for Bass, Bream and Sac a lait all month long for a chance to win $500 in each category...that's 31 CHANCES TO WIN UP TO $1500!!!
